The Frankland Arms is a 200 year old coaching inn, ideally located in Washington Village at the heart of the South Downs.The inn has beamed ceilings, log fires in the winter and a delightful garden in the summer. Our friendly bar is open all day every day offering a good selection of real ales, draught beer and soft drinks. tea and coffee are always available.There is a wide variety of bar meals to suit all tastes. Our attractive restaurant is open for full English breakfast (from 9:30am), lunch and dinner everyday with the exception of Sunday evening.There is a large selection of dishes to choose from the À la Carte Menu plus our daily specials. We pride ourselves on our large selection of home made dishes. Disabled and baby changing facitlies are available. Plenty of room for parking. Dogs are welcome in the main bar.

Large open-plan Wetherspoon pub housed in a former snooker hall and ice cream parlour. It is named after a Norman knight and lord of the manor whose descendants later emigrated to the United States. The pub offers value-for-money beer and the usual well-priced Wetherspoon menu. The regular ales are complemented by up to four guests and at least two real ciders. Twice yearly beer festivals are held and a large selection of local and international bottled beers are now available. There is a bus station opposite the pub. Opened in 1894 as the Spout Lane Inn and renamed The Steps in 1976. The small, comfortable single room lounge bar is divided into two drinking areas; the walls are decorated with pictures of old Washington. Five changing real ales are on offer some of which are often chosen by pub regulars. Tuesday is quiz night, with free supper. There is live entertainment on the last Saturday of the month.. Well established and popular pub facing Washington Village Green. Built in 1828 makes it one of the oldest pubs in the area. It changed its name from The Commercial Hotel in 1937. There are 3 distinct drinking areas and a large garden at the rear. After a redecoration in early 2018 a third handpull was installed. ( The handpulls are in the bar as you walk in). Beers are rotated and there will always be at least 1 blonde ale available There is a 10% discount for CAMRA members - be sure to ask as no visible signage. Havelock

Built in the 1880's the Havelock overlooks the River Wear and was named after Sunderland born Major General Havelock, who is particularly associated with the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The pub has now a modern interior which was refurbished in 2019, having a single bar with two handpulls, usually Timothy Taylors Landlord and a guest. Meals are served till 8.30 pm (6.30pm on Sundays). Sunday lunches are very popular. An extension allows space for more diners or a function room area. At the front of the pub is a seating area, where in fine weather drinkers relax and watch the world go by.

There is a a dummy handpull on the lounge bar. The pub opens daily at 11 am ( the bar entrance at noon) Karaoke features on Friday & Saturday nights with a quiz every Monday night.
