Tucked away but close to the bus and metro interchange, the Ivy House is well worth seeking out. There are five ever changing guest ales and ciders. There is also an extensive range of bottled International beers. Home made pizzas and burgers are prepared in an open kitchen. There is a weekday Happy Hour from 5pm, themed meal nights and a Wednesday night quiz. Live music features on the second Saturday and last Sunday of the month. Peacock

Large distinctive city centre pub; the original building was called The Peacock from 1770 and renamed The Londonderry in 1834. The current grade II listed building dates from 1901 and renamed back to the Peacock in 2017. There is a Sunderland Historic Buildings blue plaque on the wall of the pub. The building is V shaped inside with long bar to the left and smaller lounges to the right. 8 handpulls offer up to 6 real ales and a real cider. There is a pleasant outside seating area. Large pub with a traditional interior, located on corner of busy junction about a mile from Seaburn sea front. Six handpulls offer a range of 5 guest ales, mainly from local breweries and 1 real cider. Wooden paddles are available for drinkers wishing to have thirds. Food is served all day including themed evenings. Note the large information board in the entrance detailing special meal deals and forthcoming TV games. There is a function room upstairs. Just a short walk from the Stadium of Light, this local pub has 6 handpulls for real ale and up to 0 real ciders. They are all listed on a board as you enter the bar. The former upstairs games room is now a restaurant. The bar has a pool table and multiple TV's, Note the signage in the bar, the musical instruments hanging near the ceiling and the montage of the Sunderland 1973 FA Cup winning team. The Harbour View is a modern local pub. Six hand pulls are changed regularly and the cask ales are chosen by local CAMRA members. Boards behind the bar display the Brewer, name of ale and ABV. A 'tally' of beers "to date" has been shelved for now because of COVID. There is a cask ale club every Wednesday evening and 10% discount on real ale Monday - Friday up to 7pm. Dating back to 1885, the pub was tastefully and extensively renovated when reopened by Jarrow Brewery in 2011, after lying dormant for over two years. A long and narrow wood, chrome and glass bar holds seven handpulls serving five changing ales, plus two ciders.There is a long narrow lounge opposite the main bar. Upstairs is the Vaux Room for additional seating at weekends. Pub photographs abound throughout the pub, both upstairs and downstairs. Various social activities take place throughout the week including Monday quiz night from 8pm, Wednesday Buskers night from 8.30 pm and early evening Sunday Acoustic Night. One of Sunderland's oldest public houses dating back to 1834, the pub is adjacent to the industrial area of Deptford, next to the River Wear. The traditional interior is arranged around a central bar with wood panels and bare boards. Six handpulls are available but in Nov 18 only 4 in use. Regular beer festivals, live music and barbecues are held in a marquee to the rear. A former CAMRA local Pub of the Year and North East award winner.

Named after the owners gran, the former Smugglers has been completely refurbished inside and out. It is yards from Roker Beach and near the Marina. There are 2 bars, one downstairs, the other upstairs. Downstairs 3 handpulls offer real ale . Meals are served every day with breakfast Mon- Sat from 10am.. There are panoramic views out of the windows over the beach, and the pub is very well lit. There is a small stage for live music.

Sunderland's first micropub, The Lighthouse, is located in the centre of Fulwell. Formerly Bojangles cafe, the pub has been transformed into a small but comfortable bar. There are four handpulls and three keg fonts ; the real ales are Double Maxim, a seasonal Maxim beer or a local guest and a real cider. Keg offerings include Lighthouse Craft, a rebadged Swedish Blonde keg. There is a small drinking area at the rear of the pub. No TV, no gaming machines and no music, just conversation. This is a public bar in the Seaburn Inn Hotel. It is located on the sea front and opened in 2021. There is comfotable seating either side of the main entrance, with a small outdoor area to the left.
