Having celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2013, the former Mirfield Liberal Club is ideal for a quiet pint and is open to both members and the public, holding both Club and Public House Licences. There is a single bar occupying a long well furnished room offering up to four beers, plus a private function room and pool table downstairs and a well furnished snooker room upstairs. A small car park at the rear is accessed down an adjacent narrow alley.

Built on land know locally as the "Pinnacle", the Dewsbury & District Golf Club opened in 1891. The course has undergone many alterations over the years and is a true test of Golf on a Parkland course. The club house was built about 2002, and the Balcony Bar & Restaurant has been recently refurbished. The club boasts two bars. Downstairs is the "19th", upstairs the Balcony Bar. An award-winning 1807 pub with a typically sensitive, tasteful restoration by Ossett Brewery having an impressive tiled flowerpot as the centrepiece. The pub boasts four separate drinking areas and a real fire. There is a terrace and riverside beer garden. Quiz night is Tuesday. Nine ales are offered from Ossett's five breweries and independents, usually including a mild or stout, plus a cider. The pub is on the Transpennine Real Ale Trail and holds occasional beer and cider festivals.
