In the heart of Derby's West End, this family owned and run free house, is noted for its regular Draught Bass and interesting range of three guest beers. Free live music at the weekend, open mic Thursday evening and jazz last Wednesday of the month.

Formally a wooden hut built in 1921 to welcome troops back from the First World War. The club has since been rebuilt in brick. The club focus is on families with a wide range of facilities. A private club set back from Thornhill Road and just a short walk from Littleover shops. The interior was heavily refurbished in 2016 and now features two separated rooms with a mixture of seating to suit all tastes. The upstairs area has been leased to the Browns restaurant. There is a full sized snooker table and darts on offer. Outside a paved area offers pleasant seating overlooking the garden. There is also a BBQ installed which is used during summer months. Joining fee is £30 and there after annual membership is £20 (2017 prices). Guests are welcome up to 13 times a year.

The Tap is a handsome building just over the Derwent Bridge from the Market Place. It has recently been refurbished throughout and given a fresh modern look. Downstairs are two pleasant drinking areas and a small yard; there are also small rooms upstairs and a roof terrace. In addition to real ales, the Tap features a wide range of interesting world drinks ranging from bottled Belgian beers, through foreign (keg) lagers, to wines and less commonly available spirits. Formerly two pubs, the Green Man, which dates back to the 17th century and the Eagle, Ryan's is now one large room on two levels and features live music on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. There is a full menu of lunchtime meals (including generous portions of beef roasts) every day. For those who like old buildings, it's worth having a look at the pub from the churchyard.

The largest area is used particularly for meals including stone-baked pizzas. The bar has a constantly changing choice of up to five guest beers from micro breweries and cider on hand pump. A large garden is hidden away at the rear as are the toilets, in a separate cottage. Just a short walk from the main shopping area.

A handsome riverside pub with a central bar serving the main bar and separate quiet back bar. The pub is situated opposite Trent Barton's bus garage about 10 minutes walk from the bus station. The Railway Station is also 10 minutes walk across Bass's Recreation Ground. There is a car park to the side of the pub. On a fine day the large outside terrace overlooking the river is very pleasant. The beer range is very varied with a strong emphasis on new breweries. There is also a good selection of craft keg beer. Derby CAMRA Pub of the Year 2018, 2019 and 2020. East Midlands Pub of the Year 2019. The pub has a large curved frontage which once served as a corner between Meadow Road and the road bridge (now removed) over the river which rose up from the side of the pub. The pub once boasted a two-story hotel block block which occupied the space now taken up by the car park.

The Tavern lies on the old Nottingham Road and once close to an arm of the Derby canal and also the Nottingham Road station of the Midland Railway. Hence the pub's former occupation as a station hotel. The pub is finding its feet after it has been extensively and expensively redecorated [June 2016] and opened up to one large L-shaped bar. New toilets and bar transferred from old location. Attracts pool players.
Tiger
Lockup Yard - Cornmarket, Derby DE1 2DT
The Tiger is tucked away down Lockup Yard, which leads from the Cornmarket to the Guildhall (Victorian) Market. A long standing Derby institution, it remains very much a community pub though in the heart of the city. The pub was originally part of one of Derby's major coaching inns and features in Derby's annual Bonnie Prince Charlie weekend. More frequent weekend activities include it as a starting point in local Ghost Walks (Lockup Yard may be a clue here), and on a more cheery note, there are DerbyLIVE! shows, and happy hours.

One of the well-known Slug and Lettuce chain of bars. The Derby version is big and shiny, catering by day for shoppers and visitors seeking something to eat or just a quiet drink. By night, especially at weekends, it transforms itself into a lively venue on Derby's vibrant Cathedral Quarter circuit - tables and areas can be reserved for parties. Real Ale was discontinued in Summer 2016 but they continue to serve keg beer.
Vernon Arms

The white painted brickwork of this pub stands out from its neighbouring buildings. There is roadside seating to the front and a small patio and beer garden to the rear. The interior has been opened up into a single room with a games area to the left and the bar on the right. The regular Pedigree is joined by two other beers from the Marston's range, often Hobgoblin or Sunbeam. To the rear of the bar is a passageway that leads to the function room, which is home to their Folk and Acoustic Club every Tuesday evening (Entrance is one pound for performers and two pounds for audience).

The Victoria Inn locally known as the 'Vic' is situated on Midland Place just across the road from Derby's Railway Station. The walls of the bar depict the long history of the bands that have performed in the music venue at the back of the pub. One of the few live music venues in Derby. The bar features a real fire and comfy leather seating. The walls show many pictures of old Derby. Pub refitted during 2020.

The Bless is situated on Chapel Street and is a very lively venue at weekends mainly with students and young people. The pub is essentially one large open space, but has a number of segregate area, which were formally rooms. The long stretched from the front deep into the pub. There is an outside partially covered area as well. It has regular music and bands on. Food is available featuring Aberdeen Angus 6oz burgers.

The White Swan is a community-based local pub with two rooms, one dedicated to dining, the other a pleasant bar. Both have sports TV on view. A choice of six real ales usually available with at least one LocAle. The dining area is nicely decorated and can get quite busy even at lunchtime. No food is served on Sunday evening. There is a pleasant outside area for those warmer days.

The Woodpecker Hotel is a large brick built community pub on Derby's Mackworth Estate. To the front of the pub is a large open area which has recently been paved and extra seating added. The interior consists of a single large room with wood themed finish. Despite the single room there are quiet areas. A lot of seating is provided which gives different styles from booths to table for two. The long single bar is directly in front of you when entering the building. A good range of Keg products are on the bar and they now serve a real ale. Reopened under new management on 31st May 2021.

Claimed to be Derby's oldest pub and certainly looks the part with a number of small rooms, including a traditional snug which has fires in winter and conversation all year round. Well patronised by all sorts of people, who enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, perhaps a bar meal, or even a visit to the reputedly haunted cellars. There is live music from Wednesdays to Saturdays, and in the warmer months in Sunday afternoons. There are quizzes on Tuesdays and Sundays. There is a large outside drinking area. On Derby's real ale drinking circuit and with it's own beer festival.

Alfie's Bar

This Public House near this site was originally called the Canal Tavern, it's name changed to the Station Inn on completion of the railway in 1839. The old building was demolished in 1929 when the current building was built 30 yards away as the Moon Hotel. The Canal Turn Public House has just undergone a major refurbishment (October 2016) relaunching itself as a Restaurant & Sports Bar. It is a large suburban style public house with two large bars and a function room.
Brunswick Inn
1 Railway Terrace, Derby DE1 2RU
The Brunswick is owned by Everards, while the on-site brewery is managed separately. A wide range of regular beers can be expected, plus White Feather, Triple Hop, Second Brew, Railway Porter from Brunswick. The building is part of the original Midland Railway Village, threatened with clearance in the 1970s and saved as part of the 'Railway Conservation Area' in the 1980s. It reopened as a real ale pub in 1987 after much restoration, with the addition of the brewery in 1991. There are sixteen handpumps on the bar counter in total in banks of 6, 5 & 5. The two banks of 5 have (at Spring 2014) been fitted with dual outlet nozzles for each individual pump - one with a swan neck and sparkler and the other with a straight tap with a screw fitting for an optional sparkler. The units were manufactured by CFBS (Colin Farrar Brewery Services of Keighley). Winner of the Derby CAMRA pub of the Year 2016 and 2017.

Revolución de Cuba is a large bright bar located on The Strand, right in the heart of Derby. Patrons can drink, dine and relax in the spanish-ish/cuban-ish interior. The interior retains some original features, but it has lost some of its original dignity. The cocktail menu and the Cantina style menu are nice alongside live music and late night partying. if you want to slow the pace, there is the Havana Club Bar and you can enjoy some of the world’s finest rums and table service all night long.

This large imposing Grade II listed building was formerly the Friary Hotel. The building stands back from Friargate near the inner ring road and features a grand pillared entrance. It is now a two part venue with the main covered entrance leading to the Friary bar. To the left is the entrance to Scream, a late night music venue. Beers also include keg beers from Brewdog.

The Golden Pheasant is a welcoming pub which supports community life with something for everyone. The regular real ales are complimented by two guest beer with no ties. If you are after a tasty meal, the menu should have more than enough to tempt you. The pub has a good sized grassy garden, ideal for those with children and an outside smoking area separate from the garden. The pub changed ownership in July 2017, and had a refresh to a more traditional "rustic" interior, but retaining the same layout. The beer cellar is now visible behind the bar in a glass walled separate room.
Lawns Hotel

The Lawns Hotel building was originally known as The Lawn and was built as a family home between 1871 and 1879 by Ralph Foreman. The Foreman family were residents of Chellaston for more than 200 years. The site was also once used as a bakery for the local area. The current owners took ownership of The Lawns in October 2009 and have since refurbished the building in its entirety.
