Popular city centre Brains pub with a traditional appearance and friendly bar staff, attracting a brisk trade from both locals and visitors. Dating from 1813 as the Blue Bell, it was renamed Goat Major in 1995 after the mascot of the Royal Welsh Regiment, a fact that was proudly illustrated in the many photographs adorning the cosy interior. Traditional Welsh food is served into the early evening. A handy watering hole if visiting Cardiff Castle and other local attractions. Sold by Brains to Croeso Pub Company and then the name reverted from Goat Major to its original name Blue Bell, reopening 27th May 2021. Sells beer from a variety of Welsh brewers.

Very busy when events take place at the at the adjacent Millennium Stadium and Arms Park.

Tucked away in a side street near to the railway station (no direct access), a smart looking facade draws you into what is a traditional pub with public bar, lounge and a sports bar in an annex. The bar has some character with a “Rock Around The Clock” clock delivering the time of day alongside framed Brains beers pumpclips either side of it fixed above the bar counter. Around the walls are iconic pictures of famous Hollywood stars and there is evidence of indoor sports success with some polished trophies of past triumphs. The lounge is partly split level offering a comfortable environment for a drink and a chat. Off the lounge is access to a small (planned) patio for outdoor drinking. Near the public bar is a “charity wall” capturing the pub clientele’s charity fund-raising feats with framed certificates of thanks recognising their achievements of raising substantial amounts of cash. The adjoining sports room with skittles alley and pool table is adaptable an d doubles as a function room when required. Sport features highly on the agenda here with six skittles teams and two darts and pool teams. Throughout the decor is of complimentary shades of grey giving a light effect to the interior, colours which are reflected outside. Access is via flights of steps, while there is a garden and patio for use in fine weather. Live music every other weekend alternating with karaoke. Sunday evenings (9pm) there is a quiz with proceeds going to charity. While meals may not be on the menu there are bar snacks if you feel a bit peckish.

The beers, which tend to be brewed to Continental recipes, are unfiltered, without additives or preservatives, and are suitable for vegans. Tap "room", with eight taps, open Friday evenings and Saturdays when one can drink outside or buy bottles to take away. There is little, if no, cover for inclement or colder weather! NOTE: Cask ale is not routinely available.

The former seems to bring in a steady stream of regulars through the day while the latter offers comfortable surroundings and doubles as a dining room. Dotted around the lounge are scenes of European cities and a view of the long spacious garden and children’s play area. The garden runs alongside the skittles alley which apart from hosting league skittles can also be hired for functions when not in use. Food is only served at Sunday lunch time but this may extend to other times of the week when business picks up. There is occasional live music on weekends and weekly karaoke on Monday evenings. Sharp's Doom Bar and Wickwar BOB are regular ales although one may occasionally give way to a guest.

Roadside pub on the northern approach to Llandaff City. A central bar serves an adjoining public bar, lounge, and the pleasant outdoor area at the rear of the premises. The bar is cosy and traditional with a small fireplace and a mix of furniture. The lounge is spacious and doubles as a dining room albeit with a TV. Following a troubled few years it is hoped that the Heathcock, under new management will now enjoy a period of stability as a welcoming venue serving good beer and food.

A micropub in a converted shop just off the main Cowbridge Road in the centre of Canton. The main room leads to a smaller room to the rear that, in turn, leads to a tiny garden. Up to six real ales from local breweries are served from a gravity stillage and several traditional ciders are also available. A selection of board games is available for customers' use. The ale house hosts a number of regular events such as quiz nights, movie nights and open mic nights. Thursdays are 'Street Food' nights when a local street vendor sets up stall. At other times a limited range of crisps and snacks are available but customers are welcome to order "in" a take-away.

This pub has worked hard throughout the lockdowns to provide a takeaway service to the local community.
