busy town centre pub with plenty of daytime trade; nice decorative faïence finishes to exterior, unfortunately no hand pumps; three rooms are served by two bars. The original pub was in Baines' Directory 1822. Over the years the surname Hobman pops up frequently as landlord/landlady.
