Self-styled country pub in the town, with the widest choice of beer and cider in the area. Up to eight real ales include permanent, rotating Oakham beers and microbrewery guests. The pub gets busy lunch and teatimes for good-value home-cooked food. Magazines, newspapers and members-only snooker facilities are available. Quizzes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with live music alternate Saturdays. Handy for the shops, but do your shopping first, otherwise you just might not bother. Refurbished internally in 2019.
