Situated close to the main Market Square, entry to this pub is via two large oak doors, which both lead into an open-plan area served by an L-shaped bar. The room features plenty of oak panelling and has a large warming open fire. Many of the original 1930's features are still in place, bell pushes & hand beaten copper hoods over the 2 open fires feature a Turks Head. The traditional game of Hook the Ring is available.

The pub serves keg beers, continental beers, wines, spirits and cocktails but no real ale. Drinks are expensive. There is a restaurant with a good reputation and a large outside seating area in the courtyard. Dante's Italian restaurant is across the courtyard.

On a Saturday the pub serves breakfast and on a Sunday it serves roasts. There is a pool table and a quiz is held every Thursday night. Live music features occasionally.

The beers, often one offs from near and far, are kept in excellent condition and served in oversized glasses so that you can be sure of a full pint. The pub has won several CAMRA awards including Nottinghamshire Pub of the Year 2016.

The Brew Shed is the tap for the Harrison's Brewery which is situated in the yard close by. After the move next door in 2018 the pub has quadrupled in size and consists of an open plan room upstairs which is at street level and a smaller downstairs room that leads onto the large canal side patio. Five Harrison Brewery beers and two/three guests all on hand pull are the usual fare along with a variety of kegs, a good selection of gins, other spirits and wines and real cider is available.

The one room pub has a pool table and dart board away from the bar and the outside space has been utilised to a maximum with seating that attracts large numbers in fine weather. Up to seven real ales available along with keg beers, bottled beers, lagers, gins, wines and spirits. There is a monthly quiz night and live music at the weekends. CAMRA members get a 10p discount and there is a 50p discount between 4 and 6 pm( Monday to Friday ) available to all drinkers, this applies to all cask beers.
