Thwaites Original has proven so popular it’s become the regular beer, supplemented by an ever changing guest beer. Mondays feature a guitar night when anybody can join in, playing or singing along acoustically. On Thursdays films are shown on a big screen, on Fridays Fish n Chip n home made mushy peas are served from 6pm and on Saturdays it’s quiz, bingo/open the box and karaoke later in the evening, which is very popular. Darts, table tennis and pool are played in the separate games room which can be used for functions. Freshly made sandwiches are available. Real Fire

Two room traditional local on the bank of the Ouse River. This genuine free house no longer features a regular house beer from the nearby Bird Brain microbrewery as the brewer has ceased making it. Now has Greene King beers only. There are two bars, the larger with wood panelling, pool table and an open fire in winter. The second smaller bar also features a pool table. Friendly Landlord Tony Milner has owned the pub for over 25 years and kept cask ale throughout, a fact recognised in an award from the local branch of CAMRA. The hotel rooms upstairs are not in use. Note that Autovacs are used.
