Fat Pig

Formerly the Coachmakers Arms, this Victorian corner local was brought back to life in 2008 as a traditional pub, featuring a range of locally-sourced food, including brewery-fed pork and sausages, from a herd of rare-breed pigs. There are malt whisky evenings, a Monday quiz, and homebrew competitions. It has two sister bars nearby, one of which has the Fat Pig brewery and tap bar, and distillery, producing a cider, a wide range of ales and numerous whiskies.

George's Meeting House

38 South Street, Exeter EX1 1ED

This pub is the former George's Meeting, and is "listed" as having special interest as an unaltered 18th-century chapel. It was built as a Unitarian chapel in 1760, and named after King George III who came to the throne the same year. There are lovely stained glass windows, upstairs galleries and even a pulpit in situ. It opened as a Wetherspoon in January 2005. It is very popular both lunchtimes and evenings. Food is served all day, and a good range of real ales are always on offer. The real cider is Sandford Orchards.

The Great Western Hotel dates from 1840, close to St David's railway station. A range of up to nine ales is offered from around the country. It has a good community atmosphere with wheelchair users most welcome due to easy access to the bar and toilet. It has won CAMRA branch pub of the year twice. The Karma restaurant serves traditional bar snacks and also has an exclusive Indian cuisine.

Unusual early 20th-century pub with green tiled roof. Probable unchanged interior with three rooms, wood panelling and red leather bench seating. No food served but allows food to be brought in. Some bottled ale available.

Hole In The Wall

The venue is set over two floors; the Chesterfield and Sports bars on the second floor and the Dining room on the first floor. It has recently been extensively refurbished (following a major fire). Each room has supersize HD television screens, bespoke solid oak furniture and leather Chesterfield sofas. For food, they offer their standard three course menu, grill and signature 23" pizzas. Their team of chefs can devise bespoke menus for parties/functions, from canapes to banquets. Also on offer is a comprehensive drinks menu, including gins, whiskies and local ales. Can be hired for corporate events or private parties.
