Two street doors lead to an opened-up pub (ostensibly public and saloon bars) currently with 2 bar counters each with 3 handpumps. Small secluded courtyard garden at rear. Games-oriented pub with darts, many board games, a golf society, large screen TV. Currently undergoing refurbishment. Kitchen reopening in January 2018.

The decor is very nautical with dark brown panelling, portholes, masts, rope, rigging and other maritime artefacts. The pub has been run since 1970 by three generations of the same family. Close to rail and bus stations with a public car park at the rear. A wide range of food is offered with daily specials. There is a juke box but no live music on a regular basis.
