The Wednesday evening quiz is popular and at the weekend there may be live music, or a DJ on Saturday and an acoustic session on Sunday. Three changing ales vary constantly between brewers. This Wetherspoon conversion of a former church retains many original features - you get to the toilets via the pulpit (there is an accessible toilet downstairs). Up to five changing guest ales are offered and local microbreweries are usually well represented. It does meals all day and breakfast from early on, and is licensed from 10am. Outside, the front drinking area has a shelter for smokers. Handy for Ayr bus station.

The pub on this prominent corner site has seen numerous changes over the years, the latest being a large, one-roomed café bar. However, pillars and archways are evidence of its former multi-roomed character. Seating is mixed, ranging from tall to coffee table armchairs. Features include a pool table and pizza oven. Food is served until 6pm and regular Pizza Nights, using the aforementioned oven, are held. Karaoke Thursday nights, Acoustic Open Mic Night Friday and live music on Saturday nights.
