Reputedly the oldest in the town, this small thatched pub with strong Burns’ connections is now the only one left on Ayr’s High Street. An inglenook (with gas fire) dominates the main seating area. One handpump serves a beer from Ayr Brewing Co. Food is served in the restaurant until 5pm (7pm in summer), where children are welcome, or can be brought through to the bar area. Open Mic Night on Friday and occasional live music. A new beer garden, with its own bar has opened in the adjacent lane.

This very lively pub sits on the edge of Burns Statue Square in the centre of town. Real ales are sourced from a wholesaler who supplies beers which are not usually found in other pubs in the area. The wall at the back of the stage is dominated by a very large flat-screen TV and live sport is shown. Twa Dugs quiz on a Monday, round table acoustic session on a Tuesday afternoon. A large Wellington boot advertises the location of this basement bar. Close to the seafront, bus station and local government offices, it attracts tourists and office workers alike. The Wednesday evening quiz is popular and at the weekend there may be live music, or a DJ on Saturday and an acoustic session on Sunday. Three changing ales vary constantly between brewers. Bar food is served, with daily specials on the menu. Local CAMRA Pub of the Year 2019.

However, pillars and archways are evidence of its former multi-roomed character. Seating is mixed, ranging from tall to coffee table armchairs. Features include a pool table and pizza oven. Food is served until 6pm and regular Pizza Nights, using the aforementioned oven, are held. Karaoke Thursday nights, Acoustic Open Mic Night Friday and live music on Saturday nights.
