The Fox is located in the village of Crawley, in the hills to the north-west of Winchester. The impressive ancient building with visible Tudor-style timbers had a tasteful extension added to the rear in 2018 when it also became a freehouse serving a selection of local ales. The open plan interior is also impressive with contemporary decor and high roof in the extension. There are three separate patio areas providing outside seating with a large pizza oven (used only on Sunday Evenings between Easter and October) in the front patio area. Afternoon teas are served Monday to Saturday between 3pm and 5pm. The landlord is the Executive Chef and serves excellent home-made food using local and seasonal produce. A fixed price three course gourmet meal is available until 7pm. Accommodation is in five en-suite rooms above the pub. Newspapers are available at weekends only, and there are occasional live music and quizes on Sunday evenings.

Head out of town towards Gatwick Airport on the A23. The pub is on the left after Tushmore Roundabout. Sadly there is no longer any real ale available, the hand pulls were removed in 2018.

A beautiful 15th century Grade II listed house, dating back to c 1450, this ancient building is striking in character and charm and was formerly the home of actor Peter Vaughan, Porridge’s genial Harry Grout. With a large and beautiful garden, incorporating its very own duck pond, featuring an island for the ducks to stay safe from foxes at night, as well as roaring log fires and oak beams inside for those darker and colder winter nights, the Goffs Manor has plenty of character and charm all year round.
