Ship Inn

The current Ship Inn was rebuilt in 1986 on the footprint of the old ship farm building, in what was a very busy part of the maritime area in Swansea. Its now a standalone building at the junction of several busy roads into the city. It has two public rooms, both decorated in a nautical theme, with one set up as the restaurant.

A historic landmark for over 100 years, the Bay View is located on the main coast road in the city. This large triangular shaped building holds a combined pub, lounge and Thai dining restaurant. The single large room is split into separate comfortable areas of formal restaurant dining, a lounge area at the rear, with benches in the central bar area. There is a single long bar along one wall. Although there are two real ale hand pulls on the bar, usually only one is in use at any time!

Side-street pub with the air of a country inn in the city. Wooden beams and comfortable seating create a traditional, relaxing atmosphere. A local resident artist's work is displayed and is for sale. A popular quiz is held on Mondays. Live music on Thursdays and Saturdays, with an open mic night on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. There are usually up to six beers available and one of the changing beers is gravity dispensed, often from a local microbrewery.

Very large city centre pub located on the foundations of a 13th century hospice. The pub is fashioned after the Tudor style of buildings. It caters for large crowds during major sporting matches with multiple TV's. Due to its size, there are quiet areas of the pub, though music is only loud during the weekends/matches. The pub has a very large and popular outside area/garden, with heaters, which is unusual for the city centre, and a private function room for hire. There are four hand pumps available with some occasional guest ales.

On the ground floor there are settees and bench tables with troughs which are filled with ice on big social occasions, but in quieter times you will find Lego pieces there to encourage the art of conversation and interaction. Monty the Moose, a moose head imported from Canada, stares down at customers from a wall.

Architectural signs from various periods of the pub's past remain, some dividing the interior into separate bar areas. Quality food and wine are available with up to five real ciders on sale. Live music features in the bar on Fridays at eight pm, Saturday six and and eight pm and many Sundays from eight pm. Bands also play in the Vault basement later in the evening.

A vast array of screens show multiple sports and live music is a regular feature at the weekend The bar aims to serve 5-6 real ales that will constantly change depending on demand, so this may be reduced in the quiet Winter months. A large beer garden is located at the back of the pub.

Craft beer and speciality coffee café/bar, located in the more historic part of the city centre. The premises consists of two floors, with the main bar on the ground floor and a function/games room downstairs. Following the name, the furniture and many fittings are decked out in copper. A modern, contemporary theme exists throughout with several comfortable lounge seating areas and an open fronted, covered patio area by the entrance. No real ale is available, but there is a wide range of craft beers. Most of these are from the locally based Boss Brewery, which originally owned the pub and used it as their brewery tap. "Flight boards" are available, which are three "thirds" of different beers and are popular for tasting. The café offers a range of locally baked cakes, many of which are made with different beers from the Boss brewery and also specialises in a wide range of coffee. The two new owners, have made the local headlines by their active support to the local homeless community, including providing food and practical help.

This interesting venue consists of a large "L" shaped room with two comfortable lounge areas at either end and table seating in the middle, next to the corner stage area. All decorated in a modern semi industrial theme. Open all day, its open during the daytime as the "Hyst Coffee & Kitchen". Live music and events are held mostly at evenings and the end of the week. It's also used as a radio/TV studio with a sound proof studio at one end and a raised platform above the bar. The food menus covers Greek food and "Melbourne style Coffee" plus a variety of Sandwiches, Salads, Jacket Potatoes through to larger meals.

Located in the lively Uplands Crescent area of Swansea. Brew Stone specialises in "wood fire cuisine, craft beers and coffee". It is a large establishment with lots of rooms in various levels plus a roof top terrace area. There is also a separate bar area which is open in evenings only. They also have a large selection of beers in bottles, including many bottled conditioned foreign beers. All decorated in a modern stripped down industrial theme. There are two areas, a restaurant side which is open all day, where there is a wall of beer taps in the long ground floor bar, two of which are cask ales powered by electric pumps. The kitchen area on the ground floor is open plan and the large wood fired oven is easily seen.

It consists of a main single multi-level room on the ground floor which is split into many alcoves and seating areas and a separate function room upstairs. In addition the large metal name board at the front of the building is used to display random messages and is frequently changed (it never seems to say the bars name)!
