Albion
17 Albion Street, Rugeley WS15 2BY
Solid working class boozer, boisterous but friendly in equal measure. One or two ales from the Marstons family are consistently served in first class condition. The pub is a single large room, with darts in an area to the side. A tiny stage in one corner features karaoke, usually the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. There's a small beer yard at the rear, with a smokers refuge in the corner. Children welcome until 9pm.
Chase Inn
Hagley Road, Rugeley WS15 2AW
Large Marston's estate pub sitting midway between town and Cannock Chase. A single U-shaped bar serves the drinking areas which surround it. Plenty of outdoor drinking areas to the front, plus a well-appointed smokers refuge. Large picture window to the rear but largely offering views of the car park and housing! Cheap and cheerful food offerings. Occasional guest ales from the Marston's family.
Crown Hotel
Upper Brook Street, Rugeley WS15 2DN
Friendly main street pub with a classic frontage, including a historic sandstone panel for Butlers of Wolverhampton. The single main room extends into the rear, with a raised area for pool. The place is equipped with rather more musical amplification than is required, but it doesn't seem to put off the occasional chess players. Near the town bus station.
Mossley Tavern
95 Armitage Road, Rugeley WS15 1DQ
Locals' pub on the edge of town. The modernised interior has an uncluttered open plan layout with pool, TV screens and multiple dart boards. Basic beer terrace at the rear overlooking the Trent & Mersey canal. Sunday lunches are offered.
Ollys Bar
34-36 Bow Street, Rugeley WS15 2DG
Basic keg-only bar with little natural light. Pool, darts and TV pretty much sum up the attractions. There is a simple decking beer terrace by the side of the car park.
Red Lion
19 Market Street, Rugeley WS15 2JH
Grade II-listed heritage pub dating from the 16th century. The small bar has a low beamed ceiling, quarry tiling and some very old wooden panelling. Shimmy past the right side of the bar for the generally quiet darts room. Meanwhile to the left is a slightly more modern room with TV. Large beer terrace to the rear. They have no car park of their own, there is a one opposite ( free on Sundays ).
Shrew
2 Market Street, Rugeley WS15 2JJ
Spacious keg-only and youth-orientated bar which shows signs of having been a splendid old hotel in days gone by. The colourful decorative posters throughout are vaguely classy, and there's a splendidly massive wooden bench towards the back.
Vaults
3 Market Square, Rugeley WS15 2BL
Keg-only music bar in the centre of town. Lots of windows allow you to look out on the surrounding streets, preferable to looking at the interior.
Plaza
Horsefair, Rugeley WS15 2EJ
Previously a cinema dating from the 1930s, this spacious Wetherspoon pub retains much of the cinematic atmosphere and Art Deco flourishes of the period. The light and airy interior allows for three widely separated levels, accentuated by a large window area where the cinema screen once was, this leads out to an outside drinking areas, with balcony, terrace and lawned beer garden. Around seven guest ales are offered, with micros such as Salopian proving popular. The small car park is Pay and Display.
