Bear

After closing for a period in 2014, the pub was refurbished and enlarged. The building first featured as a pub in the 1820s Radnorshire Quarter Sessions. It is a traditional style pub with two connecting spaces. In good weather you can sit on the pub forecourt, next to an ancient mounting block, and watch the traffic go by. There are regular daytime bus links to Llandrindod Wells and very limited links to the rest of mid Wales.

Built in 1878, the building was originally the local workhouse. The first floor was a maternity ward, the second floor accommodated single women and there was a separate building at the rear for vagrants. In 1935 it became a school for the deaf, then a factory producing car accessories. It was closed for some years then in 1980 converted into holiday apartments. It became a hotel in 1989. There is a restaurant and conference facilities and a bar.

Re-opened in 2017. Situated in the centre of town, by the war memorial. A lounge and a separate games room with pool table and large sport TV. Beers are, Hancocks HB and Evan Evans Welsh Pale Ale (WPA).

Believed to date back to the 16th century, the pub was sold to Brains in 1999. The interior is very traditional, with beamed ceilings and some secluded corners. A 25-seater restaurant is at the rear and the adjacent old stable is converted into a function room. Traditional pub food with curry nights on Tuesday and Thursdays and a steak night on Fridays. A feature of the pub is the extensive collection of archive photographs and memorabilia. This is not an interior designer's job lot. It has been put together from many sources over a number of years and has much interest as local history. There is a walled garden terrace at the rear and a covered smoking area. The landlord is a Camra member
Eagles Inn

Originally called the 'Spread Eagle', the pub is part of a row of cottages and being the oldest pub in town, dates back to 1570. A traditional family pub with low ceilings, three interconnecting spaces. A pleasant beer garden at the rear with fine views across the Wye Valley. There is also a seating area on the front forecourt. The menu includes Welsh Black Beef dishes, Sunday carvery 12 to 2.30pm. but credit and debit cards are NOT accepted. There are regular daytime bus links to Llandrindod Wells and limited links to the rest of mid Wales (not Sunday). Biker friendly with secure parking for 9 bikes. B + B rooms available. There is a seperate drying room available.

The Elan Hotel was originally a row of terraced cottages, probably dating back to the 18th century. It became a hotel in 1938 and extended about 5 years ago. It now has an open plan, contemporary, relaxed style, apart from the noise from the gaming machines and the TV. There is a dining area extending to the back of the building and some comfortable sofas and chairs near the bar counter. There is a beer garden is at the rear. The Elan has a hotel license so you can have a pint with your breakfast if you want. There are regular daytime bus links to Llandrindod Wells in one direction and to Aberystwyth in the other.

This small hotel is close to the Elan Valley dams, - Wales' best kept secret. It caters for visitors to the area, enjoying a range of outdoor activities. An extensive menu is available in the restaurant and the bar.

At one time it was known as the Preacher's Pub because it was a favourite with travelling preachers. Originally a timber framed house dating back to about 1700. It is much altered and extended but some original timber framing remains. There are three separate areas around a central bar. The best feature is a deep inglenook fireplace set in thick stone walls. The food is honest pub grub and there are daily specials. There is a function room for hire. The tables and benches on the forecourt are popular and often crowded in good weather.
