Hidden behind the Parish Church by the cemetery gates, the Oddies does not appear to be on the High Street, despite its address. A thriving back street community pub, it handles a mainly local trade and is popular with darts players, tv football fans and church bell ringers. Imposing 1901 frontage to an 18th century hotel originally built to serve long-disappeared racecourse. Formerly the Horse & Jockey it became the Railway Hotel (as its splendid etched glass front windows proclaim) when the racecourse closed (the site is now occupied by County Hall opposite) then the Station Hotel. Many original Edwardian features remain and the mosaic hall floor is particularly attractive. Occasional live music. One changing guest beer is usually on offer. Opens at 9am for coffees, etc., which is very useful given that there is no longer a cafe at the station. real ale not longer available.

Half a mile north of the town centre, opposite Sainsbury’s supermarket on the A167 Darlington road, this community local takes its name from the English defeat of the Scots at the nearby Battle of the Standard in 1138. The interior decor is 'olde worlde' style with bare stone and brickwork and old photographs, and three distinct drinking areas offering good value, wholesome food. Until recently the large beer garden to the rear contained a Jet Provost aircraft - it has now been relocated to Fishburn airfield.

A friendly micropub in a shopping arcade near the town's Applegarth car park, offering a warm welcome in a small, cosy environment. It serves a selection of local ales plus craft beers and up to twenty real ciders. The staff are keen to offer advice and guidance to customers. Holds seasonal beer festivals and a pub quiz on the last Sunday of each month. There is no music, gaming machines, wifi, children or sports tv, just good old-fashioned chat. Opened August 2017 in the former Rutson Hospital, it occupies an impressive building on Northallerton's High Street. It features a roof terrace, theatre style kitchens with wood burning pizza oven and an outdoor area complete with Potting Sheds. Off the main bar are smaller rooms and an upstairs area. Beers will be from the Beer Monkey range (formerly Greyhawk/Copper Dragon).
