Castle Barge
The Wharf, Newark NG24 1EU
The Castle Barge was a Spillers grain barge plying its trade between Hull and Gainsborough. Situated on the River Trent at the Town Wharf in the centre of Newark it was converted into a public house in 1980. Children are allowed on the top deck and there is an outdoor drinking area adjacent to the barge. A quiz night is held on Wednesdays. 3 handpulls generally serving LocAles including Full Mash, Pheasantry and Lincoln Green ales. Ciders are available from boxes and their availability is advertised on the 4th handpull.
Flying Circus
53 Castle Gate, Newark NG24 1BE
Reopened in its present incarnation in 2014, Monty Python quotes and brewery logos decorate the walls, and old aircraft are suspended from the ceiling. The four changing cask ales are complimented by a wide range of keg, bottled and canned craft beers. There is regular live music and a quiz night. The large outdoor courtyard is popular in the summer.
Organ Grinder

Opened as the Organ Grinder in 2014, this no-nonsense beer-drinking pub offers six or seven real ales from Blue Monkey. Real cider and a range of bottled beers are also stocked along with an extensive range of spirits. Bar snacks are served to accompany the ales. Hosts a popular quiz every other Wednesday. The Monkey Room has a dartboard and a large TV screen. Books, games and a piano are available for customer use. A covered smoking area is to the rear.

It was restored by the Thurlby group, now Knead pubs in 2010 to magnificent effect. It comprises of several rooms and snugs on two levels, where the beamed, vaulted ceiling of the original Wealden House can be seen. Voted 2011 CAMRA Newark Pub of the Year, six handpumps, with an ever-changing range of ales, real cider also available. Regular live music and open mic events take place and It also hosts occasional beer festivals including the annual Newark Beermuda triangle festival. A selection of traditional pub food and stone baked pizzas are available using fresh local produce. Private rooms are available for functions and meetings.
