Located between Newark Castle and the Market Square. This Grade II listed building dates back to c.1452 and was licensed shortly after. It was restored by the Thurlby group, now Knead pubs in 2010 to magnificent effect. It comprises of several rooms and snugs on two levels, where the beamed, vaulted ceiling of the original Wealden House can be seen. Voted 2011 CAMRA Newark Pub of the Year, six handpumps, with an ever-changing range of ales, real cider also available. Regular live music and open mic events take place and It also hosts occasional beer festivals including the annual Newark Beermuda triangle festival. A selection of traditional pub food and stone baked pizzas are available using fresh local produce. Private rooms are available for functions and meetings.
