Attractive locals pub, built in 1964 on an old factory site, featuring window troughs and hanging baskets in summer, with a large comfortable public bar and a smart lounge. Outdoor drinking on patio at side (off public bar). Meals available every day to 8pm: Daytime Deals to 5pm, Grill Night Tuesday; Curry Night Friday; children's ("Little Monsters"!) menu. Comfortable former 18th-century coaching inn, recently refurbished and revived by current licensees. The open plan interior incorporates several areas linked around an off-centre bar counter, with the former public bar and lounge sections now barely distinguishable. The older parts of the pub feature low beamed ceilings, but there are two high ceiling areas to the rear. An enclosed beer garden, with picnic tables on patio and lawn, is behind the pub. The inexpensive meals and snacks include specials, a children's menu, and traditional Sunday lunchtime roasts (12-3.30). Poker night Monday; disco alternate Saturday evenings; monthly live music on a Saturday evening (see Facebook page for details); quiz night Sunday.
