Outside there is a bright terraced courtyard at the rear that has an anomaly by having to close at 10 pm, one of the licensing conditions but is a sun trap in the summer months.

The Clive as it is known locally offers 4 changing ales at the weekend with at least two on during the week and is one of only 4 free houses in the town. It has 3 open fires and a pleasant innkeeper that also boasts a large outside decking drinking area for the summer. The pub holds regular music nights in the function room.
