St Jude's Brewery Tavern

A small, friendly Goth bar close to town centre with sawdust on the floor and quirky artefacts. Formerly a photographic studio. It's owned and operated by St Jude’s Brewery. There are up to 20 changing beers and 4 ciders served from a gravity stillage behind the servery. The pub also offers some imported lagers and a selection of bar snacks. There's a function room upstairs and occasional acoustic music sessions, plus TV for sports events. Regular quiz nights take place on Sunday evenings. This is a modern public bar above the Briarbank brewery. The entrance is to the rear, accessed from the yard. The bar comprises a nicely furnished single room with a mixture of raised seating, comfortable bench seating and chairs around several wooden tables. The counter incorporates some barrels into its design and offers a range of Briarbank's own beers (up to 8) on hand pump and keg plus some guest beers There's live music (usually Jazz) on the third Sunday of each month. A second bar is also occasionally used in a small marquee in the adjoining yard during fine weather. Two beer festivals are organised annually - one at Easter the other in late August. Card only payments I.e. no cash is taken at the bar.

This is one of Ipswich's most ancient pubs; one of only 24 to appear on a town assessment of 1689. It seems that it was formerly far more extensive than the current building. The pub has a toilet for disabled customers.

This popular multi-roomed pub has a tiny front bar, a large, a low ceilinged back room with oak beams & a lively but friendly main bar. A conservatory area was opened at the end of April 2009. The pub also offers covered seating in a large outdoor heated area to rear. A wide range of beers is always available on both hand-pump and on gravity. Beer range varies with regular local Milds, seasonal ales and unusual beers for the local area, including dark Porters, Stouts. Matured Adnams Tally Ho is sometimes featured together with many bitters, ciders & some imported beers. Three popular beer festivals are held each year. Food varies from hot & cold snacks to pies, curries, stews & vegetarian options. There are summer barbecues. Various buses pass the pub including 2, 5, 15 or 66 (from the town centre or railway station you may need to alight on nearby Woodbridge road). The Dove Street Brewery started brewing during July 2011. The pub now has a large selection of bottled beers from around the world and a wide range of gins. This pub originally opened in 1997 as a Yates Wine Lodge. In May 2009 it was leased by JD Wetherspoon and converted into the Robert Ransome. This closed in July 2017 and the building reopened in August, once again as a Yates. The ground-floor bar is popular all day. The upstairs bar is open until very late Friday & Saturday, when loud music and dancing dominate.
