This 1930s pub, with a 1950s refit by Hammonds (note the windows), has won a CAMRA English Heritage Conservation Pub Design award. The superb, curved, central bar has a parquet floor and an interesting wooden entrance. Eight ales are arranged in strength order. A dark beer is always available, along with two real ciders. Two rooms off are regularly used for meetings, such as poker, poetry and music clubs. Meet the Brewer nights on the last Tuesday of the month. CAMRA Yorkshire Pub of the Year runner up in 2016.
