Farr's School of Dancing

The premises are a former commercial property leased from Hackney council and boasts five hand-pumps dispensing a varying range of ales. Fashioned in the usual Antic "distressed" style with raw brickwork, exposed pipework and "pre-owned" furniture. there are plans to have a dining area upstairs whilst the adjoining premises will be used as offices. Portobello took over from Antic here in late 2020.

Large open plan bar opened in January 2014 in the old Hackney Central Station. Interior is minimalist with with bare brick and a long bar on one side. Upstairs is a popular gig venue, downstairs stays busy late into the evening with DJ's keeping a trendy crowd happy. Food is good, and the selection of drinks quite decent

This independently run dive bar opened in the 2000s, beginning the trendification of Dalston. It occupies a ground floor unit in what used to be Dudleys, which looks like a typical interwar department store. DJs and arty entz. No real ale but some keg beers from the likes of Charles Wells (Young's London Stout) and Marston's.

Address of Theatre is 291 Mare Street, bar has two entrances from the main street. Having dropped draught beer a few years ago, now reintroduced keg beers e.g. Crate and now the Empire Bar. No cask beer.

Renamed O'NEILLS BAR, FIDDLERS. Renamed again to WISHING WELL. Enterprise, ex-Truman. Renamed Tommy Flynns then Flynns. Now Crown. Very friendly locals pub with live entertainment at weekends. Enterprise tied. Smoking terrace to rear and very clean interior. Sports regularly shown on various TVs.

Despite having a run down exterior and basic interior this pub s very much a destination pub due as it hosts regular live music acts. Food is hot dogs and burgers. Handpumps removed by Oct 2019.

Post-industrial decor with concrete ceiling, girders, columns, stripped wood fixtures and furniture. More rooms upstairs. No real ale but keg and bottled beers from London breweries such as Big Hug, Brick, Brixton, Five Points, Fourpure, Redchurch. Wood-fired sourdough pizzas.
Haggerston

Ex-Watney, Ascot Estates. Was the Swan, then Richmonds, from late 1980s Uncle Sam's for over a decade. Reopened in 2008 as the Haggerston. Not very big inside, so it's easily filled, attracting a bohemian graduate clientele, mostly aged 20s and 30s. Real ale has now been discontinued again, but there are some reasonable draught (Konig Ludwig, Krombacher, Red Hook, Urquell) and bottled beers. Pizza menu
