Formerly a somewhat basic pub, now an appealing gastro-style/bistro bar with trendy bare brick walls and a mixture of comfortable seating. Although many original features have gone, the cornices remain and the ceiling is worth an extended look as it is an extract of a map from 1804 showing the distilleries and buildings in the Canonmills area, so you can see how much it has changed. German bottled beers are available. NOTE: May close earlier if quiet!

Busy street corner bar favoured by a younger clientele, but welcoming to all, where the management have a very positive attitude towards cask ale. It has large windows and is wood-panelled with a varied range of comfortable seating. There's a cosy upstairs area with seating as well. Cask ale is featured on the bar counter with keg beer taps on the bar's back wall along with impressive and laddered back-lit glass spirit shelves.
