Situated on Carlisle Citadel railway station Platform 4. The high-arched Grade II listed building has served a number of purposes including being the Station Buffet in the 1950s and features much of the fabric of the old building and other railway heritage with the original stone fireplaces. Named 301 Miles From London - based on Carlisle folklore which claims that is the distance from the capital, although it's actually thought to be 299 miles. A beautiful mahogany bar serving six real ales from mainly local breweries. NOTE Early closing time which could be even earlier if station closes. Cheaper ales on Mondays.

Attractive two roomed pub on the northern outskirts of Carlisle on the A7 near M6 J44. The friendly bar is cosy and decorated with football scarves. The lounge is a very pleasant, attractive L shaped room often candlelit in the evening. Bar meals are very good and excellent value. The pub has its own car park to the rear and makes an excellent alternative to motorway food for anyone passing on the M6. Sunday roast and veg option only on Sunday's. Guest ale is from Caledonian and Theakstons beer changes each week.

Busy local situated on the busy out of Carlisle heading north to Scotland Heated patio for smokers. Harry Redfern designed pub built 1937. A refurbishment in late 2017 has opened up the whole of the pub into one large area moving the bar to one side. However it still retains the feel of the original rooms as it has kept original support pillars and put in other separating features.

Like all Carlisle pubs over 30 years old the Howard Arms is an ex-state management pub. The front rooms have changed little in character since those days. The city's late lamented theatre was formerly situated opposite the pub. Old photos and posters on the walls remind us of the past links with the theatre. The pub has a superb tiled exterior which pre-dates its management days. There is an outdoor garden area.

Former state management pub which when built in 1853 served the thriving surrounding textile industry. Hand looms, spinning wheels, bobbins and shuttles from Linton Tweeds which would have been used in the nearby mills, along with archive photos of the industry are to be found throughout the pub. This is now the only remaining pub in the Denton Holme area. Cosy and friendly single room pub around a central bar. 12 minutes walk from Carlisle train station and on local bus routes.
