Formally an estate agents which was converted to a pub in the late 1990's by Scottish and Newcastle and run as a Rat & Parrot. Now extended into a neighbouring building and is typical of the revolution chain. The main bar is on the ground floor with further bars upstairs which may not always be open to the public. Food all day with pizzas late on after main menu ceases.

University Arms Hotel

The University Arms is a grand hotel established in 1834. Parker's Tavern is its main public bar and looks out onto Parker's Piece (a popular open space in the town centre). Following an £80m refurbishment and partial rebuild of the hotel it reopened in summer 2018. As stylishly decorated and furnished as you'd expect. Essentially a brasserie serving breakfast (from 6:30), lunch, afternoon tea and dinner it is also possible to simply have a drink. Bottled beers (including one from city based Calverley's brewery) only.
