Unusually no real ale is available at this large open plan 'sizzling' pub converted from the former Walker's Tannery owners home, it caters for food throughout the day from 9am (for breakfasts) to 10 pm. The bar opens from 10 am for those who wish to have a liquid start to the day! There are extensive grounds with many outside tables on the former bowling green and a 'Community Roots' allotment at the far end of the 'green'.

Hogarths

A large and lively town centre pub in the centre of historic Churchgate by the Parish Church. It was refurbished in the early part of 2019 and a staircase added to a mezzanine VIP room was added. Named after the 18th century painter and satirist William Hogarth and themed, without any association with the man himself, as a Victorian gin palace. Gin fans will be blown away with the choice on offer. Guest beers seem to be restricted now to ones from the Marstons range, so far removed from when the onsite brewery was here. The historic theme of the pub is somewhat dominated by the vast number of TVs which are difficult to escape from.

Bolton Ukrainian Social Club

Large, imposing building to the east of town with a comfortable two-room bar, this club is home to several societies including brass band, choir, chess and Scottish pipers. Three handpumps serve mostly local beers from the likes of Bank Top, Blackedge and Brewsmith, alongside guests from further afield. A selection of Ukrainian beers brewed by Pravda Beer Theatre in Lviv are often available in bottled or keg format. To gain entry press the intercom button on the left hand side of the door, have your CAMRA membership card or Good Beer Guide ready. Bolton CAMRA Club of the Year from 2011 to 2021.

A Hungry Horse Food Pub in the Valley Leisure Park and handy when visiting the nearby Cineworld Cinema. The pub nestles amongst mature trees and is near the confluence of Astley Brook, Eagley Brook and the River Tonge. A large open plan pub with many different seating areas (including a few booths with small screen TVs to entertain the kids!) and many outdoor seating areas. Note the large wooden ceiling 'A frame' and the small indoor 'Wacky Corner' which is free for the little ones to play in whilst waiting for their meals. Dogs are welcome in the outside seating areas. There is a large free car park surrounding the pub. The ice cream cabinet has a wide choice of ices to finish off your meal! Note that the cash machine inside the pub makes a charge for withdrawals.

This bar opened to coincide with the redevelopment of Bolton's award-winning indoor market in 2014. It quickly became a magnet for real ale fans across the town. The three handpumps serve an ever-changing range from some of the finest breweries in the north-west and beyond. One pump is usually a dark beer. Its location at the centre of the Market's "Lifestyle Hall" creates a unique atmosphere and makes real ale more accessible to those who rarely visit a pub. There are regulars who enjoy spending the afternoon with a pint or two in the bustling retail atmosphere, while others pop in for a swift refreshment break from shopping. It is also the ideal place to grab some great food to eat with your pint. The market has freshly-made takeaway food stalls from places such as Malaysia and Cameroon alongside the sandwich and pasty outlets. A large seating area is shared with these neighbouring stalls. The opening days and hours are restricted by the market. There are occasional meet the brewer and food matching events. Beers available and coming soon are shown on Twitter. Definitely a place to visit as it was Bolton Branch Pub of the year 2016.

Heaton Cricket Club

The Club house is at an elevated level loooking out over the cricket field in 2016 the Club is being sponsored by Bank Top Brewery. Wells Bombardier and Butcombe Bitter have been noted as the changing beers but often it is Wainwrights. Club members receive 30p a pint discount. The club also houses the Moss Bank Juniors football teams who play on pitches adjacent to the cricket ground. Only open to club members at the moment.
