A two-room traditional corner pub with a single bar in the front. It serves the Black Tom area developed in the late 19th century. Estate agents call it the Prime Ministers area and iit is now becoming more desirable. This is very much a community pub, but one where visitors are welcomed There is a weekly quiz on Mondays and occasional music nights.

Pleasant late-Victorian pub in a residential area, a Wells house for its whole 120 years. Beer and cider festivals are held twice a year. The front bar has bare floorboards and an open fire, while there is a separate rear bar. The garden has a gazebo for smokers and a non-smoking paved area. Converted Edwardian residence serving as the clubhouse of the Bedford Branch of the Royal Air Force Association (est 1937). Parking is limited at lunchtime as rear car-park spaces are hired to commuters. The club offers interesting local aviation memorabilia and is home to the Rhodesian Armed Forces Museum (well worth a visit). There is a quiz on the third Wednesday of each month. The function room can be booked for private events. Wednesday evening meals and Sunday roast lunches must be booked in advance. CAMRA members welcome. Local CAMRA Club of the Year 2016 and 2017.

A members club with a lounge bar open to the public. The first floor Riverside Bar with its lounge and balcony overlooking the River Great Ouse and the Town Bridge offers probably the best view in Bedford. The lounge offers a variety of seats and is generally quiet except when there is a rowing event on the river. A chair lift operated by the bar staff is available for those unable to climb the flight of steps outside.
