Pinto Lounge
21 High Street, Banbury OX16 5EG
Friendly cafe-bar style venue in the main shopping area of Banbury which opened in 2010. There is an obvious emphasis on food, and the food offer is a bit different to most other places locally. Unfortunately in mid 2014 the hand-pump dispensing the sole real ale was removed and a lager font installed in its place. Bath Ales' Dark Side remains as a 'craft keg' offering.
Hanwell Arms
Rotary Way, Hanwell Fields, Banbury OX16 1ER
Spacious modern one-roomer built by a small arcade of shops in the Hanwell Fields estate on the northern edge of Banbury. A barn-like feel is avoided by dividing the area into alcoves. There is an emphasis on food, but not to the exclusion of drinkers. Free car parking is available by the shops, but avoid the permit-only spaces.
Miller & Carter
Ermont Way, Banbury OX16 3JT
A Steakhouse which was previously a Toby Carvery.
Banbury Trades & Labour Club
2a West Bar, Banbury OX16 9RR
Apothecary Tap
4a Church Lane, Banbury OX16 5LR
In the heart of the Old Town, this craft beer bar and bottle shop has six craft keg lines.
Exchange
49-50 High Street, Banbury OX16 5LA
Once the main post-office and telephone exchange for Banbury the stamps and postal orders have been replaced by Pints and plates of food in this large split level pub. Now the only Wetherspoons in Banbury The Exchange provides the regular beers plus at least 4 guests. A chalk board by the entrance will give you a rundown of the beers available and the Wetherspoons app will get your beer delivered to your table without delay.
Bell Inn
12 Middleton Road, Banbury OX16 4QJ
A long-time GBG entry, this is a straightforward two-bar pub. Situated handily for railway and bus stations, and near the town centre, nevertheless a local;, with loyal regulars and a welcome for visitors. The buzz of amiable conversation mixes with the sounds of pub games most weekday evenings, as the Bell hosts darts, dominoes, pool, Aunt Sally and quiz teams. Adnams Southwold is supplemented by guest beers from the Punch Finest Cask list.
Coach & Horses
Butchers Row, Banbury OX16 5JH
This Hook Norton house just off the marketplace in the centre of Banbury. Was a former coaching inn, but now lies in a pedestrianised area.
Gurkha Spice
16 Broad Street, Banbury OX16 5BN
Former bar now converted to Nepalese restaurant in 2013, but retaining hand-pumps. Alas a change of management in late 2014 saw the pump-clips removed, though bottled Hook Norton beer remains.
Church House
2-3 North Bar Street, Banbury OX16 0TB
This building has had many lives before it became a pub towards the end of the 20th century, starting out as a church hall, and was at one time a theatre. The atmosphere at The Church House is fun and is a comfortable place to relax over a good bottle of wine, or a beer, in the company of friends. Now home to Banbury Folk Club.
