Real Ale is only available at selected times of the year which usually corresponds to the times that students are present in the town. A rotating selection of cans of craft beer available.

Glengower Hotel

Seafront pub with excellent coastal views offers outside seating on its suntrap front terrace. Inside are a light, airy front bar, quieter dining area, and large back room with pool and electronic games. Three guest beers, often from Welsh micros. Real cider available on draught and in the fridge. Good-value food served till 9pm Mon-Sat, 6pm Sun. Dogs very welcome (treats available). Hotel closes for a fortnight Christmas / New Year. White Horse

Upper Portland Street, Aberystwyth SY23 2DT

Reverted February 2015 to its original name. A Wetherspoons look-a-like with decor little altered from its Varsity days, though there looks to be more seating upstairs. Some good external tilework, but sadly the fine etched window was smashed some years ago by a vandal and replaced by an inferior embossed copy - a well-meaning gesture on the part of the then owners, but a poor exchange nonetheless. Good value food with a wide range of choices and themes throughout the week.

This pub located a few hundreds metres from the middle of Aberystwyth is popular with students and locals alike. Live bands perform twice a week and there is a quiz night every Sunday. The walls are decorated with old agricultural implements. Two Brains Craft Cask beers are very rarely available on one side of the bar but quality varies based on popularity.

Quiet bar area downstairs, planning to hold music events upstairs. The hand pumps deliver, very pleasant, keg beer.

Hotel-bar-bistro on elegant town centre street. Real ale introduced autumn 2014. Characterless modern bar festooned with big screens. A notice warns "drinks left unattended will be assumed finished" - note and beware if using the toilet or nipping out for a smoke, particularly if drinking unaccompanied. CCTV in toilets "for your safety".
