Carpenters Arms

CAMRA accredited for serving consistently well-kept real ales. Situated on a narrow cobbled street close to the castle, this excellent, recently refurbished, Nicholsons pub has been voted local pub of the year several times. The elegantly decorated interior is on three levels, the lowest of which is reputed to house a passageway to the castle. Ashby's Brewery tiles are retained on the floor by the entrance and hark back to the pubs former owners. The three regular beers are supplemented by up to five interesting guests depending on demand and usually include something dark.
