The Gabardine bar was born out of COVID, yes an unusual time to decide I hear you say. But what better time to build a new independent Coffee & Wine bar, starting afresh when everyone will be looking forward to the day we become free again.

The name was taken from the blue plaque outside the building. Thomas Burberry opened his first showroom in the building we now lease. Gabardine was the waterproof fabric he invented back in 1857. Gabardine is also a great play on words for us as it incorporate’s the words bar and dine which is our place.

We recently did a revamp after a trip to Boston and New York picking up ideas from lots of independent coffee and wine bars.

We hope you enjoy our place as much as we have building it.
