Great Expectations is located in an impressive Victorian Roman-style building in one of Reading conservation areas and had the honour of being opened by Charles Dickens in 1843. Its offers a themed bar/restaurant in the form of a Dickensian London street, serving pub food and light bar snacks. TV screens show major sporting events and a pool table is available. Has installed a small brew-kit which can produce various house beers when a brewer is available. Cask happy hour, £3 per pint at 17:00 to 19:00 Mon to Fri.
