This Wetherspoon pub stands on the site of a ginger-beer factory, later used as a Salvation Army barracks. It has the usual JDW mixture of tables, chairs and booths, and its long rectangular lounge stretches back to look out on the Kennet & Avon Canal. Prints of old Reading adorn the walls. Good-sized outdoor seating area to the rear. Uses stillaging at the expense of handpumps during the JDW beer festivals. Quiz night Wednesdays
