Monks Retreat

Formerly a Wetherspoons, this pub has had a sympathetic refurbishment with a strong emphasis on televised sport and artwork related to the history of Reading. Located opposite the old red-brick town hall, the name of the pub recalls the Franciscan friars who came to Reading in the 12th century and inhabited the friary where Greyfriars church is now situated.
