Large main pub on the main A570 road into Southport. Formerly the Blowick, the old pub was demolished and rebuilt as the Thatch and Thistle, since renamed the Thatched Pub & Grill. Meals are popular, and sport is featured heavily with large screen TV. The pub is home to the Quads team which plays in the long-established Merseyside Quiz League which was formed in 1959. New licensees have got real ale back on the menu and the pub is also close to the Merseyrail Community Stadium, home of Southport Football Club.
