A tidy refurbished Thwaites pub just off Lord Street in the heart of town. Ably run by Alan and staff, the two Thwaites beers are always in top condition. Despite its proximity to shopping areas, the Volunteer is very much a community pub. The atmosphere is always friendly, especially so on sing-a-long Sunday. Photographs of old Southport adorn the walls. Lunches are served daily, from light snacks to hearty meals.
