Railway Arms

Opening hours

Community owned and professionally managed pub purchased fairly amicably from a major brewer in 2020 with the backing of some 500 local shareholders. A Victorian street corner local it sits opposite the former Saffron Walden Railway Station which closed in 1963 following the Beeching cuts. Significant renovation both inside and out has taken place since the community buy out, largely undertaken by volunteers. Fully open inside plus a large quantity of outside seating and tables in the garden and courtyard. Completely free of tie, it serves a range of beer styles exclusively from local breweries (e.g. Buntingford, Moonshine, Pumphouse and Mighty Oak), usually including a stout or mild and craft beers from Wylde Skye, plus a number of ciders, including Simon's from Cambridgeshire.
