Highwayman
Whickham Highway, Whickham NE11 9QJ
Pleasant early 60's estate style pub shielded by hedging just off busy main road in Dunston Hill at the western end of the village. Has a good following with many drawn by the "Sizzling Pub Co." food menu and karaoke.
Bridle Path
101, Front Street, Whickham NE16 4JJ
A little away from the main shopping area. This stone built mid-Victorian former village local has been much alterded and expanded over the years. So that now it is a large open plan, low ceilinged, split-level area with a couple of smaller areas off it. There is a lively atmosphere throughout, lots of woodwork including beams, many television screens, a pool table and dart board plus a very impressive trophy cabinet. Quizzes held twice weekly.

Large pub with varied seating areas - even has it's own app
Gibside Hotel

Real ale is available in the Pharaoh themed up market Sphinx Lounge Bar, note the attractive coloured glass and hieroglyphics. Also has televisions and impressive views across the wide Tyne Valley.
Poachers Pocket
Market Lane, Whickham NE16 4TJ
Lovely community pub on the edge of Whickham, between Dunston and Swalwell, serving great value food and drinks. Family-orientated at meal times.
Harry Clasper
Front Street, Whickham NE16 4HF
A pleasant JD Wetherspoon conversion of the former Whickham Council Offices building opened as a pub in June 2014 and named after the legendary Tyneside rower of the Victorian era Harry Clasper. Who is buried under his memorial in St Mary's churchyard very close by. Not as huge as some of their establishments however there are differently styled bar and lounge areas and it does have a large outdoor drinking area. Very handy for many bus services. Note: Beer with meals available after 09:00.
One Eyed Stag
5 The Square, Whickham NE16 4JB
A fairly recent, welcome addition to the Whickham pub scene, this micro-pub has a tile topped bar with five handpumps selling beer from local micro breweries. Blackboards adorn the wall behind the bar giving details of the beers and other drinks available. There is an interesting light fitting covering most of the ceiling and an electric stove in an alcove to the right hand side of the pub.
