Hare & Hounds
Durnstown, Sway SO41 6AL
This long, narrow pub, built over 200 years ago as a coaching inn, stands at the edge of a heath. The beamed, farmhouse-style interior is divided into several separate seating areas. At the rear is a long, narrow, sheltered garden with a children's play area. Food is served all day; occasional themed weeks such as pies, game & lamb. Sunday night is quiz night, and the pub runs a golfing society. Ringwood Best Bitter is a regular, supplemented by Hall & Woodhouse beers - Tanglefoot or Fursty Ferret will be one of those.
Manor at Sway
Station Road, Sway SO41 6BA
Built as a house in 1906, requisitioned by the military during World War II, renovated and opened as the White Rose Hotel in 1968, and renamed the Sway Manor Hotel in 2002 following a sale in 2002; the latest name dates from 2015. The Manor at Sway is a handsome, brick-built edifice with a fine entrance and a pretty belvedere. Its conservatory restaurant (one of three dining rooms) overlooks five acres of attractively laid out garden, and features local produce (some as local as the herb garden) in its essentially English menu. Music and other events are hosted throughout the year. Opposite is the ArtSway art gallery. Ringwood Fortniner and Boondoggle are available in bottles.
Silver Hind
Station Road, Sway SO41 6BA
A free house converted from the former award winning Nurses Cottage B&B and restaurant. The pub is a bungalow with additional raised dining area in conservatory. The internal décor is minimalist and oatmeal in colour. The restaurant section has gained a good reputation and booking is recommended.
