Popular historic public bar, with an impressive mirror and gantry, which has altered little in over 50 years. It has a refurbished snug bar downstairs, an upstairs Art Deco lounge/function room, and a courtyard area with seating. Local musicians play in the public bar most Friday evenings, and touring American-style bands often perform upstairs. There is a strong commitment to real ales, sourced both locally and from all over the UK. Mini beer festivals are held twice yearly.

Small hotel, handy for the town centre, Wigtownshire Rugby Club and Stair Park, home of Stranraer FC. There is a good-sized, comfortable lounge with a selection of malt whiskies in addition to one real ale. The hotel hosts a popular quiz night every second Monday. Convenient accommodation within a few miles of Cairnryan ferry ports. A welcome return to form for a previous GBG stalwart. Real ale no longer sold 2020 onwards.
