Gate Hangs Well

Formerly on a road called Gate Hangs Well Road this long, thin pub was built in 1806 and opened as an Inn in 1830. Formerly a Mitchells and Butlers pub it is separated into a wood floored bar area, with possibly the smallest pub bench in the whole of Stourbridge (West Midlands?), and a carpeted smartly decorated lounge. Large grassed area to rear with picnic benches and covered smoking area with wood burner.
Mitre

Located by a large Tesco store in the centre of Stourbridge the Mitre holds an impressive location at the top of Lower High Street. Five real ales a week are offered with three available at all times from a regular rotating list , including Adnams and Enville. The bar has a large area and a high ceiling with a pool table at one end, with other small rooms off. Comedy gigs held upstairs in small room. Please note that five ales may not always be available.

Pub is located on small side road just off the Stourbridge Ring Road. Built in 18th Century this three story building serves beer from the Marstons portfolio of breweries. Central bar serves a large bar area, constructed from what used to be separate rooms. We are currently awaiting updated information from the new licensee. Live bands and DJ's perform Thursday to Saturday. A 3am licence has been applied for.

Deceptively large Ember Inn pub with food all day. Promotes Real Ale actively, including large display, though no regular local ales. Guest beer announced in advance on their website. They have a Sunday evening quiz which starts at 9:00.

Comfortable community local comprising single L-shaped bar. Bar has leather benches, high tables and further seating round the corner. Inglenook fireplace to the left as you enter, with lettering above celebrating the local clay pigeon shooting club. Large covered smoking area beside a grass area with picnic benches to the rear. Shows football matches involving local teams. Pub quizzes and Monday night auctions are held, phone pub for further details. Snack bar in car park 8am-2pm.

Hard to find pub just off the ring road in the 'Old Quarter' of town, this popular local has been refurbished with a new kitchen offering a varied menu. Normally three guest beers on offer. Family room hasa pool table while the traditional bar offers wide-screen tv. The lounge is quieter with a comfortable relaxed atmosphere during the day but transforms with live music often in the evenings.

Busy traditional bar to the front and a newly extended small cosy lounge to the rear accessed through a side passage. The bar is decorated with a small collection of whisky bottles and boxes, pewter tankards and foreign bank notes. The beer is served in handled glasses on request. A public car park is directly opposite. A heated smoking area exists within the large beer garden to the rear. Bathams XXX available winter only.

Locally listed Edwardian town centre pub and home of the Craddock's Brewery. The pub consists of a main bar and adjacent snug with real fires and an upstairs function room. Traditional pie and mash (choice of eight varieties) served Mon-Thu 12-3 and 5-8; Fri-Sun 12-7. Cold food also available. Regular events and Brewery tours can be arranged. There is a summer beer and cider festival with over fifteen ales and ciders. Regular ciders are Dogdancer and Thundering Molly. As far as we know open for take outs only.
Chequers Inn

The inn on this site dates from the early 19th century. Thomas Biven is recorded as landlord of the Chequers Inn in the local trade directories of 1829, 1830 and 1835. The name ‘Chequers’ is an ancient one, said to have been used in Roman times. It may also derive from the ‘chequers’ (or small brown berries) from the ‘wild service tree’ which were used to flavour beer, before the introduction of hops. It is now a large spacious pub with friendly customer service and impresive local ales available. "Craft" cans, bottles and keg are now available. As with all JDW pubs there is no social media now and dogs are not admitted.

Named after the nearby viaduct this pub is the only one within the Penfields estate. Pub comprises a large room containing the bar with the old Pool Room being down a step to the RHS as you enter. Pool Room now contains comfortable sofas with the table being in the bar, along with a dartboard. Large car park to the rear. In front is a small covered seating area with further benches on block paved area close by. Two unused handpulls adorn the lounge bar.

Single t-shaped split level roomed pub with attractive wood panelled bar to the side and pool table and dual dartboards on the higher level. Located close by local shops it's the only pub off the main road in an extensive housing area. Extensive car parking is available and an outdoor seating area on a patio. Nearby bus stops are located at the top of the hill on Amblecote Road. Single rotating guest ale is served. Just re-opened after extensive refurbishment.
