Dock Bar

This is basically a bar built into a shipping container sat in the square at the front of the BBC buildings. There is plenty of outdoor seating with large umbrellas as well as another container containing a lounge area. The bar does sell a selection of bottled beers from the Marble brewery and as such is worth a visit. Views of Media City as well as across the North Bay area of Salford Quays towards the Lowry and Imperial War Museum.

Opened on 12th December 2013 and very handy for the BBC. 8 changing real ales available, mainly from local brewers plus bottled beers from US craft brewer Flying Dog. The regular house beer 'Dockyard Bitter' 3.7% is brewed by Joseph Holt. Note Salford's only table football. See the ground level cellar through a glass wall. A large screen on one wall shows old films. A variety of comfortable seating areas as well as more standard wooden chairs around tables. The interior has been described as 'Industrial Chique'.

Smart modern bar opened on 14th December 2013. Large L S Lowry style mural adorns one wall. There are three real ales with a range usually selected from Brightside, Copper Dragon and Hawkshead. There is also a selection of bottled UK and continental bottled beers.

Matchstick Man

Reopened June 2012 as Matchstick Man. Branded as a 'Hungry Horse' pub selling Greene King IPA, Abbot Ale and Old Speckled Hen on handpump. The side closest to the metrolink stop is a mainly drinking area. The other larger area of the pub is given over to dining. There is also an upstairs area for dining.

This is a modern bar and restaurant across the square for the Lowry Theatre and Art Gallery. It consists of one large open plan room divided into two areas. Upon entering the drinking area with raised seating is in front and to the right, the restaurant area is to the left and the bar is at the rear. There are three real ales available and bottled beers from Willow brewery and Affligem of Belgium as well as a large selection of cocktails. The main feature of the decor is a lot of use of copper as well as some prints of local musicians. Background music is not intrusive and the bar is popular with local office workers as well as tourists, theatre goers and shoppers. Closing hours may vary.
Pier Eight

Bar and restaurant opened November 26th 2015, within the Lowry Theatre. The stretched U-shaped bar serves a large comfortable lounge area with views onto Number 8 Dock and across the water to War Museum North. Here is a moderately-sized outside terrace for smokers and strollers. At one end of the open plan design a slightly raised area (five steps with adjacent ramp) is the restaurant area; meals are served here from noon till 9 pm with an afternoon break.

This is a smart, modern and comfortable bar with a beefeater restaurant upstairs. Food is also available in the ground floor bar area which has a well laid out selection of raised and normal seating. There are various pictures of the Quays area around the pub as well as a few TVs on the walls. Started selling real ale again in late 2014 after a year's break.
