A wine-shop, bottled-beer shop and micro pub, all in one. It’s genuinely “micro”, located in the ex-butcher’s shop and so space and authentic cellars weren’t an option. Entering the shop, you’re straight into the wine display, where, to the centre right, there’s a small seating area, behind which is one of those wine-dispense units which allows wine to be served direct from the bottle into various glass sizes while not allowing the wine in the bottle to deteriorate. As you move towards the rear, there’s a counter/server along your right and at the far end of the counter is the beer dispense unit. Pass the counter and you’ll end up in another small seated area at the back of the shop. No cask beer but it features 5 changing kegs from craft breweries the length and breadth of the country, and covering all styles. They will even stock Belgian beers on draught. There’s also a wide ranging bottled beer selection, including bottle-conditioned beers (Real Ale in a bottle). Snacks are available: olives, gourmet crisps, etc. There are proposals to expand into part of the old RBS premises next door.

This small bar, over two floors, opened in May 2018 and is the brewery tap for Poynton Brewery. There are 6 hand-pumps featuring four beers from Poynton Brewery in addition to a couple of guest beers from local micro breweries. A stout or porter is always available. The cask offering is complemented by 5 craft keg, 1 craft cider and a well-stocked bar in resect of wine, malt whiskeys, gin (including Middlewood, produced by Poynton Brewery) and cocktails. The interior is a classy look of rough hewn wood, old red brick and air raid shelter style lighting. Outdoor drinking areas front and rear. The urinal is a cut-away metal cask - very odd. Downstairs is just pleasant background music, upstairs has TV which shows sport (Freeview only) and is available as a function room for groups up to 25. Children welcome until 8pm. Just over half a mile from Poynton Station, also reachable by 391 and 392 bus, but service ceases early evening.
