A pub since 1864, the Australia was taken over by Purple Moose Brewing in 2017 as their tap house. It is situated in the centre of town next to the bus stops. Two rooms are served by a long wooden bar with six handpumps. The walls are decorated blackboard style and depict various aspects of Purple Moose brewery, including the awards the beers have won over the years and the legend of the Purple Moose. There is a small outdoor seating area at the back. Near to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway Station. Most of their core real ale range is available as well as seasonal and special occasion beers. Local CAMRA Pub of the Year 2016.

Spooner's beer range varies,but there are always at least two beers from the local Purple Moose Brewery. Situated in the terminus of the world-famous Ffestiniog Railway and Welsh Highland Railway, steam trains are outside the door most of the year. While full meals were served every lunchtime & evening Tuesday to Saturday depending on season this has ceased since late July 2021 due to staff recruitment problems but snacks should still be available. Check with Spooner's for updates. A former local CAMRA Pub of the Year award winner. Please note that the bar is open from 12 noon and not from café opening times.
