Glover Arms

Crieff Road, Perth PH1 3JJ

Take an off-the-beaten-track location in Perth, approx 3 miles west of the centre, and you come across the Glover Arms country pub and restaurant. A mix of traditional with a few contemporary touches makes this a relaxing place to visit. The décor of natural wood and stone with a log fire provides a cosy atmosphere. Up to three handpulls provide a selection of ales with fourth handpull usualy reserved for Weston's Rosies Pig cider.. Handy for both Huntingower Castle  and McDiarmid Park (home of St Johnstone FC).

Greyfriars

15 South Street, Perth PH2 8PG

Small city-centre lounge bar serving up to four ales, often including an Inveralmond beer. As well as the bar there is a small upstairs seating area. The pub takes its name from the former Greyfriars monastery, which was gutted by followers of John Knox in 1559 and subsequently demolished. Nearby attractions include a Victorian theatre, art gallery, museum and concert hall. This may well be the smallest lounge bar in the Fair City but it has an enviable reputation among locals and visitors as one of the friendliest pubs. Closed for 18 months during pandemic.

Old Ship Inn

31 High Street (Skinnergate), Perth PH1 5TJ

Said to be the oldest pub in Perth dating back to 1665, with no name change. Walls are timber-lined with white painted beamed ceiling and frieze lightening up the bar. A large oil painting of a sailing ship is of particular interest. Lounge area to left of bar with a selection of books for reading. Was an oasis in Perth for real ale in the 1980s, now with one regular real ale and two changing real ales. Upstairs lounge reopened as 'Speakeasy' in December 2018 after 20 year closure .

Sandeman

Sandeman Building, 14-16 Kinnoull, Perth PH1 5EN

Three handpulls supply real ales, having arrived in 2010 in this Stonegate chain establishment. The stylish building was at one time the Perth library.

Tavern

103 South Street, Perth PH2 8PA

Formerly Ye Olde St. Johnstoun Tavern. Large single-area establishment with long bar. Two real ales are available. Attractive frontage, with good Tavern sign. Interesting selection of old Perth artwork and pictures adorn the walls. Excellent value all day home cooked food. Dogs are very welcome with water bowl provided. Lined glasses used occasionally or on request.

Ballathie House Hotel

Kinclaven Farm, Perth PH1 4QN

Recognised by the AA as amongst the top 200 hotels in Britain, the Ballathie is set in superb Perthshire countryside, with gardens running down to the River Tay. Ever-changing Inveralmond beers were served from the one handpull in the bar.
