The bare walls feature original artworks. The menu is centred around the grill. The cask ale range may change / expand. Several lagers are available.

Overlooks the cricket ground of Falkland Cricket Club which is surrounded by trees and gives extended views to the west. Richard Hayman took over the pub in October 2013. Food includes toasted paninis at lunchtime, an interesting range of main meals and Sunday roasts. The old building was demolished and a new cricket pavilion building is the new home for the Bowler's Arms which reopened in 2021. Outside areas include front terrace and roof terrace (external stairs, to right of side entrance, to access).

The pub has darts and pool teams. David Reid has been landlord at the pub since 2000. The pub's licence is from 11am until 6am but the pub normally opens between noon and 12.30. Closing time may vary according to number of customers with 1am as a typical closing time. A limited range of chocolate and confectionery is also on sale at the bar.

Pub reopened as Walkabout on 17 Mar 2018. Stonegate Pub Company purchased this pub from Wetherspoon and debranded it with reopening on 8 Sep 2017. Originally Lloyds No. 1 Bar opened July 2010. Large downstairs bar and smaller upstairs bar with internal balcony. No real ale available in December 2019 but staff advised 'hopefully back in 2020'.

The pub has been remodelled into several different areas including 'Bartholomew Bar' with paved surface and main bar with sloping wooden floor and varying ceiling levels. Other rooms included 'The Fish Tank'. The garden area includes three beach huts with seating and tables inside. Four handpumps with one used for Black Rat cider. 'Cellar' with casks / kegs and pipework is visible through windows to street. Accessible from street and from rear (council managed car park).

Two-bar community pub near Newbury RFC and the site of the first Battle of Newbury, 1643. This excellent two-bar community pub has traded under its present name since 1761. The lounge bar has a partial wall containing a wood-burning stove, which separates it from a smaller dining area. The separate public bar offers darts, pool, TV and juke-box. There is a large car park, beer garden and outdoor covered area for smokers. After a while when no food was available, Indian Kitchen at The Gun Pub opened on 22 November 2016 for restaurant and takeaway food. Opening hours from December 2020 are 4-10pm daily for dining in and takeaway

JD Wetherspoon pub and hotel opened in July 2011 after extensive refurbishment. Dining area extension into former patio area and conversion of former car park to patio area with extensive seating in 2019. Located next to the Corn Exchange, it is well located in Newbury's historic market place, near the bus and rail stationa and canal. There are several seating areas within this large pub with TV only in the front bar. A real fire in the front bar. Two sets of handpumps are positioned at each end of the divided bar with several beers from local breweries such as Windsor & Eton, Two Cocks, Loddon, Ramsbury and Twickenham. Two real ciders served from boxes stored in fridges behind the bar. Large patio area with outdoor seating at rear. On Ale Wednesdays CAMRA members with membership cards receive 50p off guest ale pints.
