A worthwhile 10-minute uphill walk from the centre of New Brighton, this former Whitbread pub has a split-level lounge with a dining/function room, patio and garden. A quiz is hosted on Tuesday, open mic Wednesday and live music on Thursday and Saturday. Darts and Football teams. Old photos were taken in 1989.

Reported that no real ale available on handpump 13 August 2021. Basic street corner local, lively and full of character. The black & white photos were taken in 1988 and 1992 when the pub was known as the Commercial and sold Peter Walker beers.

This multi-roomed, low-beamed pub, dating from 1759, suffered from a fire in 2010 but has been restored without losing its unique character. Overlooking Egremont Promenade, the pub has fine views over the River Mersey to Liverpool. Three rooms lead off the main central bar area. Renowned for its Draught Bass, it also offers three guest ales usually including a beer from one of the local breweries. Local CAMRA Pub of the Year 2020 and 2021. Merseyside (Region) Pub of the Year 2021.

Historic pub dating from 1747, named after the small boats which were kept behind the pub. Reputedly haunted by the ghost of Jake Bolt, was a favoured meeting place for soldiers, sailors and the 'working class'.

Refurbished and reopened with new owners in March 2019 following closure in November 2017. Single room pub split into three areas served from one bar. Tastefully decorated with local photos, comfortable, bright and airy with a lively atmosphere. The pub is named after James Atherton regarded as one of the founders of New Brighton. The pub was renamed again on a temporary basis as the Three Bellends in October 2020.

This ever-popular friendly local continues to thrive, due in no small part to the landlady who has a track record of serving good beer. The five guest ales on offer include one from a local micro and others often include seasonal beers from regional breweries. A traditional, single-roomed community local, it hosts various sports teams, quiz nights and regular very popular live music including rock, blues and folk. Situated on Marine Promenade close to local amenities including the Floral Hall theatre and opposite a new cinema complex, the pub is proving popular with both locals and visitors to the resort. Early in 2020, Wetherspoons announced plans to extend the pub into the next door building which was formerly the Travellers Rest.
